Deer smashes way into Port Dover home

A four-legged invader smashed its way into a Port Dover home on Monday afternoon.Norfolk OPP officers responded to Clifford Street shortly after 2 p.m. after receiving a report of a window smashed at the side of the house.The culprit proved to be a female deer that had barricaded itself in a back bedroom, said Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk.Police contacted Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge in Jarvis to assist in rescuing the animal.Once it was out of the house, the deer took off towards a nearby ravine.“We are in no way animal specialists,” Sanchuk said, praising the volunteers from Hobbitstee. “People like that help us to a successful end.”
