A civilian and a member of the City Constabulary were injured on Friday morning during a scuffle in the compound of the Mayor and City Council.Information reaching Guyana Times revealed that Constable Rawle Bobb was stabbed to the mouth by the civilian and in retaliation, the Constable whipped out his service weapon and shot the man to his foot.Reports are the incident occurred at about 09:30h after the civilian, who was sentenced to do community work at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts returned to the outpost to enquire about his pedal cycle that was left there. This enquiry, Guyana Times understands, led to a heated argument between the two men which quickly escalated into an altercation. As a result, a door at the outpost broke off and it was this that angered the Constable further. The civilian reportedly armed himself with an improvised “jucker” and stabbed the city Constable to his mouth and in return, the Constable shot the suspect to his foot. They were both taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were admitted. When contacted, Chief Constable Andrew Foo indicated that the matter is being investigated. He said from what was reported, he is of the understanding that the civilian entered the City Constabulary to “claim a cycle”. “He was being spoken to by one of the ranks. He became disorderly. He attacked the rank and stabbed him to the face and mouth,” Foo said.
