Wellington varsity volleyball team goes 3-3 in Early Bird Invitational in Winfield

first_imgMatch 1:WHS vs Wichita Trinity: 14-25 / 15-25(WHS loses)Match 2:WHS vs Conway Springs: 25-9 / 21-25 / 25-23(WHS WINS)Match 3:WHS vs Buhler: 25-22 / 25-20(WHS WINS)Match 4:WHS vs El Dorado: 25-20 / 11-25 / 17-25(WHS Loses) by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington girls volleyball team went 3-3 Saturday in the Early Bird Invitational in Winfield.The Crusaders beat Conway Springs, Buhler, and Winfield.  They lost to Wichita Trinity, El Dorado, and Ark City.“The girls played great volleyball, and it was a long exhausting tournament,” said Cherity Elder, Wellington head girls volleyball coach. “The team played tough volleyball all day and provided insight into the success their future could hold.”Siarah Walker led the day with kills at 25 for the day. The team passed very well throughout the day and kept the percentage around 80 percent.“This is what I like to see,” Elder said. “Our serving was also astounding with over 90 percent on the day!”Elder said McKenna Oathout did an exceptional job setting and Erin Goodrum filled the Libero position wonderfully, especially for a freshman!“Overall, I’m very excited for what I saw on Saturday,” Elder said. “It proved many areas we are solid in and many areas that still need work!  These girls have great chemistry, and they are competitive enough to get many more wins the season.” Close Forgot password?
